Frequently asked questions.

Who can have a bike fit?

Anyone! The joy of bike fitting is that it can improve the quality, comfort, and safety of cycling for all riders. Wether you’re a leisure cyclist, a commuter, or international racer, there is a Cardiff Bike Fit for you.

Will a bike fit make me faster?

In some cases, yes. We have worked with clients for whom we have achieved consistent and sustainable gains of around 12-15%. A bike fit can find you hidden gains that would otherwise take months of training to compensate for, but not in all cases. Sometimes, simply achieving a comfortable position enables you to improve the quality of your training.

Other bike fits haven’t worked, can you help me?

Here at Cardiff Bike Fit we often work with complex cases. Upon arrival, some of our clients have had two or three previous unsuccessful bike fits and we’re familiar with correcting common bike fitting errors and outdated techniques in use elsewhere. We draw on the expertise of our multidisciplinary team in order to ensure client-centred results that are effective, healthy, and sustainable for you.

What shall I wear?

All bike fitting appointments require full cycling kit:

  • A snug, well-fitting jersey

  • Cycling shorts

  • Your normal cycling shoes

What shall I bring?

In addition to the above, you will need to bring:

  • Your bike

  • A drink (riding our dynamic jig can be thirsty work!)

Can you help me find the right saddle?

Absolutely! We have the largest test fleet of saddles in South Wales and work with the best in the business. We know saddles inside out and can narrow down the expansive range into some options that are likely to work for your body. There’s no need to be embarrassed; our well-trained, professional saddle fitters are well prepared for the full range of saddle struggles that exist among the cycling community.
